Call The Waaaaaambulance!
Poor Helen Thomas, the Hearst columnist and White House correspondent whom Brit Hume aptly labeled "the nutty aunt in the attic of the Washington press corps." Seems in a phone call last week with THE HILL editor Albert Eisele, Thomas said,
"The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I'll kill myself." Well, being a reporter Eisele reported on "Aunt Helen's" rather drastic plans. Now Thomas is mad at Eisele for doing his job.
"I'll never talk to a reporter again!" Thomas said. "We were just talking -- I was ranting -- and he wrote about it. That isn't right. We all say stuff we don't want printed."
Gee whiz, a reporter writing about something that someone said that they wish they hadn't said. What a surprise.
"Nobody has thinner skin than reporters," Eisele said.
Especially when the injection is some of their own medicine.
