  Gutless Cowards On The Run
It shouldn't surprise me that one of the most striking differences between conservatives and liberals is the way they approach discussion.

Those on the right will present facts, well-reasoned opinions, and will often politely agree to disagree. But not the fringe left liberals. Show them facts and they blindly ignore them. Offer an argument to their precious tenets of faith (abortion on demand, we-hate-Bush, Freedom for Iraq is wrong, etc) and they resort to name-calling and whining.

I've had a good time the last day or so beating up on "Jay" at "One Way Or Another". I can't really call it a debate, since it consisted of him making assertions, me knocking them down with documented facts and sources, and him deleting all the comments that exposed him as a completely clueless liberal wing-nut.

It all started with his post in which he claimed that the problem in New Orleans & South La. is there are "No local guard units to assist....most of them are in Iraq. ... It's Bush's fault that most of the National Guard is in Iraq rather than doing something wild and crazy like guarding the nation."

Now, when I went to school "most" meant a majority, more than half. So I tried to show Jay that rather than "most" of the guard being in Iraq, most of the guard (about 3/4) is still stateside. I further showed him several sources that prove that the guard troops still here are under the control of the various governors, not the DoD. He continued to offer his uninformed, false assertions that because it's called the NATIONAL Guard it must be under the command and control of the President.

Finally I posted links to several sources that said things like, ""(AP) - Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has refused to sign over National Guard control to the federal government and has turned to a Clinton administration official, former Federal Emergency Management Agency chief James Lee Witt, to help run relief efforts." -Source

"(AP) - A senior administration official said that Bush has clear legal authority to federalize National Guard units to quell civil disturbances under the Insurrection Act and will continue to try to unify the chains of command that are split among the president, the Louisiana governor and the New Orleans mayor." -Source

"During peacetime the governor commands the Guard forces of his or her state. He or she can call them into action during local or statewide emergencies like storms, drought, and civil disturbances. " -Source

"...the Governor through the State Adjutant General commands Guard forces. The Governor can call the Guard into action during local or statewide emergencies, such as storms, drought, and civil disturbances, to name a few." -Source

Once the facts had finally backed Jay into a corner he couldn't rant or squirm out of he began to delete my rebuttals and cast aspersions on my own military service. He even got so nervous he took all comments off his blog. Typical childish tactics from a typical liberal fringe nut.

In the words of that childhood favorite Bugs Bunny: What a maroon!

Jay is your typical childish liberal. Facts aren't important to the typical liberal. Just keep stating the same false points over and over again, throw in some references to sexual acts, and some insults, and there have the liberal's only tactic.

Reason and the liberal's position rarely meet.

I see you're having a nice little debate with yourself. A winner in your own mind, I would wager.

lol...gawd you're pathetic

Well Jay, I'm not the one deleting comments because I can't face the facts.

I deleted your comments when they started numbering in the dozens. I don't want my own blog bloated down with your paraticular rants and raves. Like all rightwing loonies..you concentrate on winning rather than being right...evading issues and points by drowning critics in minutiae. When you have something to say of your own, I'll let your comments stand. Cut and paste a bunch of stuff from the internet on my comment section and I'll wipe it every time....no matter what the political stance.

Dozens? Hardly.

My comments were in response to your baseless misinformation.

The only way to prove that you are 100% wrong about the command responsibility of the National Guard is by citing sources. Since you've declared you'll delete such comments it's obvious you're not interested in truth. (What a surprise!)

The fact remains you are lying and don't have the moral fortitude to admit you've been caught at it. (Again, no big surprise from a rabid liberal. Enjoy your echo chamber.)

Jay, this is Clay. It seems you're not a winner when it comes to paying attention to whom you're responding to.

What's wrong Jay? Having trouble with so many facts that don't support your fantasy of reality?

No, Jay, you like a typical liberal are the one so bent on the fact that you must be right even though you can't produce any facts to back up your position so you evade the debate by referng to all facts that shatter you're fantasy view of reality as "minutiae"

Jay said:

"When you have something to say of your own, I'll let your comments stand."

What a ruse on your part. I believe what we have here is Jay's "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain routine".

You claim to be awaiting James' own comments, yet you consistently delete them.

Jay said:

"In fact...the insult from you James...would be if you approved of my morals or integrity."

What morality and integrity? Making childish eighth grade sexual comments and hurling insults at your opponent, and deleting his comments that challenge your position when it is clear you can't maintain your side of the argumenet with any facts is neither moral nor a sign of integrity.

And of course, then there's the whole self-photo with the peace sign gesture. I don't see anything peaceful about your manner.

Jay said:

"btw...to an earlier question...combat veteran and still carrying shrapnel in both legs."

If what you are claiming is true then I will say thank you for your service to our country in the past.

Jay,
Not sure what devoting "considerable free time to maintaining a blog" has to do with one's "morals," but I guess that was the best response you could come up with.

As far as my blog being lonely, I'm not too sad about it's stature. 1,200+ hits in the past 3 months with very little publicity, and I've gotten links and comments from some pretty respectable and highly thought of bloggers. But I guess compared to "cat blogging" it might not seem like much.

By the way, if you didn't want people to start making comments disagreeing with you then you should have stuck to posts about losing weight, quitting smoking, and "meme" surveys. You start making posts of a political nature and you should expect a bit more attention. Especially when those posts are full of inaccuracies and falsehoods.

And you're right, Bush has made some mistakes. We should have dropped a lot more bombs on Iraq, we ought to be building more refineries and drilling in the ANWR, and he should have declared martial law and federalized the rest of the La. Guard as soon as it became obvious the local and state officials were incompetent.

Once the facts had finally backed Jay into a corner he couldn't rant or squirm out of he began to delete my rebuttals....He even got so nervous he took all comments off his blog.

I know exactly how you feel, Jim. You did the exact same thing to me on this blog!

James,

Jay followed suit with me on his blog. He apparently only functions well within his own echo chamber.
If you present any challenge to his position or question why he deletes comments that challenge his position, he just responds with more deletions and a smug chastisement about poor behavior.

He chided me about "minding my manners", but based upon his comments and tactics, both here and your blog and in his, it is quite clear that "minding manners" is something that he knows very little about.

It appears that your second "ankle biter" is yet another typical liberal who can't argue any points, just repeat the same false drivel over and over again. And then withdraw into his corner convinced in his own delusory mind that he has somehow won the argument.

Actually Don, I deleted comments that were getting too far away from the original topic of the post. Oh, and the ones that were just plain obscene.

If you think you can stick to the matter at hand and keep a civil tongue, comment away.

Obviously, "The Buck Stops Here" is exclusively a Democratic virtue.
