  Hillary Hypocrite
Speaking before a gathering of "Women for Hillary" in Manhattan, the junior Senator from New York appears to have lost touch with reality - or she thinks we have. Her comments are astounding in their hypocrisy.

"There has never been an administration, I don't believe in our history, more intent upon consolidating and abusing power to further their own agenda," Clinton said, as the Democrats continue to refuse to allow straight up or down votes on John Bolton and Bush's other nominees.

"It's very hard to stop people who have no shame about what they're doing. It is very hard to tell people that they are making decisions that will undermine our checks and balances and constitutional system of government who don't care. It is very hard to stop people who have never been acquainted with the truth."
Wow! Doesn't this sound more like a soundbyte from the Clinton years? Heck, it probably is!

"Some honestly believe they are motivated by the truth, they are motivated by a higher calling, they are motivated by, I guess, a direct line to the heavens."
Frankly, if you don't believe that you are motivated by truth and a higher calling you shouldn't be involved in politics and government.

"The press is missing in action, with all due respect. Where are the investigative reporters today? Why aren't they asking the hard questions? It's shocking when you see how easily they fold in the media today. They don't stand their ground. If they're criticized by the White House, they just fall apart. I mean, c'mon, toughen up, guys, it's only our Constitution and country at stake. Let's get some spine."
I assume she's referring to Newsweek's refusal to go to press with Michael Isikoff's thoroughly sourced story on Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. (Or perhaps their refusal to move on Isikoff's story on Clinton and Kathleen Willey. Or maybe their failure to publish Isikoff's reporting on Clinton and Paula Jones.) She certainly can't be talking about today's press with it's out-of-all-proportion attention to "torture" at Abu Ghraib and "abuse" at Guantanamo.

Clinton also said she wants to "move back toward a progressive agenda that will lift up people."
Right! Like welfare that takes away people's motivation and incentive to work for a better life? Or affirmative action and racial quotas that continue to maintain a class system and create a self-fulfilling prophecy of inferiority for minorities?

"This administration wants to ... undo and turn the clock back on the progress of the 20th century, ... whether it's the right to be able to have a choice when it comes to the most private and intimate decisions that a woman has to make..."
I believe women should have the right to choose. And they should be responsible in the choices of when to be "intimate." Perhaps then the choice to murder another innocent human being for convenience sake wouldn't be such an issue.

"We cannot give them (Republicans) another two years of majority. We cannot give them another four years after that. ... I stay awake at night thinking about all the mistakes and the wrong direction and all the bad decisions being made in Washington."
By this point I think what she really means is all the mistakes and bad decisions being made by American voters. I mean, how on Earth could we have elected these horrible people to lead us? And it's inconceivable to the Democrats that we might continue to do so.

Clinton claims Bush's top financial priority is tax cuts for the wealthy.
And why not? The overwhelming majority of federal income taxes are paid by the very highest income earners. The top 1% of income earners pay about 32% of all income taxes. The top 50% of earners pay more than 96% of the taxes. 96 percent! That means half of us are paying for nearly all of us. Why shouldn't they get a cut?

She also criticized Bush for focusing on funding the war in Iraq, rather than the needs of Americans who lack health insurance, affordable housing and good schools.
Folks, if we don't win the struggle in Iraq and help them achieve a stable, strong government, if we don't continue to wholeheartedly find, engage and destroy terrorists around the world who want to kill you and me and our children then healthcare, insurance, and education won't matter. The equation changed on 9/11 and our priorities had change to. That the Democrats can't see that is yet further evidence of their incompetence to be involved in government.
